About the job
GMC are seeking a skilled Workshop / Field Technician to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong mechanical aptitude and a passion for performing testing and maintaining of equipment. This role involves working with both hand and power tools, assembling and maintaining various machinery, and providing excellent customer service. The Workshop / Field Technician will play a crucial role in ensuring that all equipment is functioning optimally and meets the highest standards of quality.
Responsibilities
- Assemble, maintain, and repair hydraulic / mechanical equipment as per specifications.
- Utilise hand tools and power tools effectively to complete tasks.
- Interpret schematics and technical drawings to understand assembly requirements.
- Perform welding tasks as needed to ensure structural integrity of equipment.
- Conduct routine inspections and preventative maintenance on machinery.
- Assist customers with inquiries regarding equipment functionality and service options.
- Handle heavy lifting as required during the repair and maintenance processes.
- Maintain a clean and organised workshop environment to promote safety and efficiency.
Skills
- Proficient in the use of hand tools and power tools for assembly and repair tasks.
- Strong mechanical knowledge with the ability to troubleshoot issues effectively.
- Experience in equipment repair, including familiarity with various types of machinery.
- Good hydraulic knowledge with the ability to troubleshoot issues effectively.
- Ability to read and interpret schematics for accurate assembly and maintenance work.
- Excellent customer service skills to assist clients with their needs effectively.
- Capability to perform heavy lifting safely as part of the job requirements.
- Experience with subsea equipment would be advantageous.
